About Don Lewis

Don Lewis works in the fields of photography, music, and painting.

His internationally renowned photography of live music has appeared in the award-winning book Fucked Up + Photocopied: Instant Art of the Punk Rock Movement, such magazines as Rolling Stone and Spin, and album covers for the Melvins and Jawbreaker, among others.

His paintings create a rhythmic dynamic tension between fluid gestural strokes and a charged abstract space, and are visual equivalents to the swirling panoramas of overtones in his sound projects. Sometimes the abstract energy field of a painting coalesces into a figure, and the interplay between abstract marks and the rendering of the figure adds to the visual tension.

Don Lewis lives and works in Los Angeles.
